A “Guess How Much I Love You”Party

As promised, I am kicking off the year with a feature party each month. The February feature is a “Guess How Much I Love You” themed party for a special first birthday done by Corina McKay from N.A.C Event Catering.  https:/www.facebook.com/NacEventCatering

I spoke to Corina about her fab party:

“This party was for my son’s first birthday, knowing it was going to be the last first birthday our family would be celebrating, we wanted to make it extra special.

We picked this theme because it was a book given to him by his sister’s when he was born, and it has been read almost every night since.

For the invites I used the pages app on my iPad to create the invites, I had them printed at a local copy shop on a nice card for a total of $4.50 for 20 invitations!
Although I wanted the party food to be mostly healthy, I think it’s important the it still looks and tastes great! The menu I created was all completely gluten/dairy free and included:
  • Fruit and vege platter with dips, Pic’s peanut butter, homemade humus and coconut yoghurt.
  • Homemade mini sausage rolls with homemade plum sauce
  • Club sandwiches
  • Coconut, chia banana and blueberry dessert jars(refined sugar free)
  • Vege chips and organic nacho chips
  • “Carrot” cake pops

I made everything before hand the only thing I had to do on the day of the party was make the sandwiches, bake the sausage rolls and put together the platter with the fruit/veges I prepared the day before.

The cake was a gluten free vanilla sponge filled with a dairy free Italian meringue buttercream and blueberry compote.

The wooden topper was from Love From Seventeen and the picture pieces I created from edible images.
For favours I made play-dough and presented it in baby food jars. I also made some star and moon cookies which I placed in cellophane bags with a gift tag I had printed “We Love you to the moon and back…..thanks for coming”

I asked Corina for any tips or advice she learnt from planning this party that she could offer:
“It’s so much fun to pick a birthday theme that has an extra special meaning to you as a family!  Think outside the box!

Keep the food simple, not to many different items, choosing options that can be made ahead so you don’t have much to do on the day- then you can relax and enjoy a glass of bubbly to celebrate!! “

Thanks so much for sharing your gorgeous party with us Corina! I absolutely love seeing parties and especially ones that are done here in our own back yard. I think we could all gain some awesome inspiration from each other.

I especially liked the focus on including healthy and allergy friendly party food, which is becoming so important these days!

If you want to be our March feature party then please get in contact, I would love to hear from you!

Thanks,
J x
